The concrete pool deck needs to be protected. It gets constantly bombarded from elements, pool chemicals, water, and constant use. This all causes premature deterioration of the deck surface. Sealing the pool deck regularly creates a barrier that helps the concrete resist the bombardment helping it look nice year-round. Prior to sealing any cracks which have occurred should be filled.

Routine sweeping your pool area will help eliminate liability and a clean deck helps for a clean pool. Your filters will thank you. Periodic cleaning with a strong hose or even better a power washer will also keep your pool surface clear of bacteria growths that can make areas slippery. Have low areas with substantial standing water repaired to minimize the hazards of slips and falls.

The pool itself most of the time is the largest surface area that needs to be maintained. 

Constant professional testing with proper chemical treatments are a must. Improper chemicals can and will cause severe damage to your pools surface. This can lead to big costs and significant down time of the pools use. Also, proper water maintenance keeps your water sparkling and goes a long way toward keeping the entire inner surface clean. Some other tips: Good brushing. Be sure to get problem areas such as the tile at the water line, behind the ladders, stairs and ledges are all places where algae can begin to grow. Proper Filtration Time. You should probably be running the filter 8 or more hours per day and in summer when in high use this could be as much as 16 hours for water clarity.
